What’s Included in the Dining Plan?

There are two options for a dining plan:
1) The Quick Service Dining Plan, it includes:

  • 2 Quick Service Meals
    • An entree, side, and drink (can be specialty or alcoholic)
  • 1 Snack (most single serve items from a piece of fruit to a giant cinnamon roll)
  • 1 Resort Refillable Mug (can be used for soda, tea, or juice at any resort)

2) The Disney Dining Plan, it includes:

  • 1 Quick Service Meal
  • 1 Table Service Meal
  • 1 Snack
  • 1 Refillable Resort Mug

While free dining is back for a limited time, let me tell you why it’s an important upgrade for your vacation at any time of the year.

The two things I have found people stress about while planing and being on vacation are, first, staying on budget, and second, being overwhelmed. A dining plan could be the answer to both of those. The beauty of it, whether it is a free promo or a paid upgrade, is it will give you a sense of relief knowing you have most, if not all of your food paid for in advance. Could you bring your PB&J’s in the park and not worry about paying for in park food? Sure! But make sure you’re thinking about the logistics of making sticky sandwiches in the limited space your resort room affords you while your kiddos bounce around too excited to meet Mickey. I can see it now, jelly all over the table, which of course is where all the non-suspecting phones, iPads, and cameras lay in wait to be packed in a backpack which coincidentally is where those sandwiches will be stored through your day. And you may be thinking, Sam, I’m going to pack my sandwiches in a lunch bag like a civilized human being, and I will respond, oh I see you’ve never traveled with children before because as the great Luke Danes says “they all have jam hands” and no amount of lunch bags can protect your goods from peanut butter. Wow, we’ve gotten off track, so like I was saying…

Now let’s rewind that terrifying peanut butter scene and imagine packing up the fam and heading in to the park sans peanut butter. With a dining plan there’s no need to whip a wallet out of your pocket. You can simply feed the fam by tapping your Magicband…now that’s magical.

I know what you’re thinking…this all sounds amazing, how much is this gong to cost me?

Well, off course if you take advantage of the available offer it won’t cost you one cent. However, the travel dates are limited and you have to book by February 10th. So let’s get real: if you don’t fall into those categories, how much will this convenience cost?

For an adult in 2025 a Quick Service Dining Plan runs at $59.14 per person, per day and a child runs at $24.71 per child per day. The Disney Dining Plan (the table service plan) runs $97.79 per person per day and the child’s will be $30.66 per child per day.

How do I know if a Dining Plan would be a good fit for me?

Well, I’m sure glad you asked. I have created a worksheet to answer that exact question and it is available here for free! Give it a download and take the time to logically answer the questions and then holler back at me to get started planning your next magical adventure!

How do I use a dining plan?

The dining plans at Disney World are organized by a certain number of credits. So let’s say you are doing a 3 night stay with a Quick Service Dining Plan. You will receive 2 Quick Service Meals and 1 Snack per night of your stay (and of course your mug). HOWEVER you do not have to use that exact configuration everyday. Your dining plan would come with 6 Quick Service Meals and 3 Snacks for your entire stay, per person of course.

That means you can use all or none in a day just as long as you use them all by midnight of your check out day. So go with me here, say you have 2 small kiddos that don’t always enjoy bigger meals, you can get them a kids meal to share now, and then a kids meal to share later. no need to waste your credits if you know meals won’t get finished at certain parts of the day.

Using your credits to splurge

A wonderful thing about a dining plan is that it can give you the freedom to try something you never had before or lets your kid have that giant cinnamon roll that would normally cost $8. Totally get that cinnamon roll, it’s included as a snack!

Is this making you hungry? It’s definitely making me hungry. I’m going to go grab a bite, but before you go make sure you grab that free download! I’ll be here to give you all the tips and tricks about maximizing the value of a dining plan!
